The HDBA March Member meeting was packed full of information that can save Historic District businesses thousands of dollars.
This month’s featured speaker was Amy Kramb, owner of Kramb Consulting and a specialist in helping clients secure state and federal funding for historic properties. Amy is an Architectural Historian and a life-long Dublin Resident, and spent an hour with us sharing tons of valuable info.
We learned for example, that commercial properties within Dublin’s Historic Register District are eligible for a dollar-for-dollar Federal tax credit for any qualifying improvements that meet the program’s standards. The list of eligible project types is very broad, and includes ADA compliance, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing improvements, replacing window glass with insulating glass, and many others.
Amy also told us about a similar State of Ohio tax credit program that helps fund improvements to historic properties.
Both programs (Federal and State) are coordinated through the State Historic Preservation Office.
Better yet, if you’re planning on doing work to the outside of your property, you can combine Dublin’s Façade Improvement Program with both of these tax credits.
