2017 was a very busy year in Dublin’s Historic District – from dozens of events, crowds of people, construction projects and the reopening of North High Street, the HD was buzzing!
The Historic Dublin Business Association was busy, too, keeping the HD in the spotlight and helping make the heart of Dublin everyone’s favorite place to be. A big thanks to the HDBA member businesses for knocking out another great year!
While we’re gearing up for 2018, we thought we’d share with you a recap of all the great things the HDBA helped our members accomplish in 2017.
The HDBA continued to grow, adding six businesses in 2017. Help us welcome these new members:
Bentley’s Pet Stuff – www.petstuff.com
Daso Custom Cabinetry – www.dasocustomcabinetry.com
Galbreath Real Estate – www.galbreathrealestate.com
Dublin Village Jewelers – www.dublinvillagejewelers.com
Johnson’s Real Ice Cream – www.johnsonsrealicecream.com
Vine & Tap – www.vineandtapdublin.com
The HDBA exists to promote our member businesses, but we also give back to the larger Dublin community. In 2017 the HDBA donated $2,900 to the Dublin Food Pantry; $1,800 to Welcome Warehouse; $974 to the Dublin Women’s Philanthropic Club; and raised $1,055.75 for the Make a Wish Foundation.
Sometimes for families, and sometimes for adults, something fun and exciting happened almost every “Second Saturday” in the HD:
Sweet Stroll – April
Slider Challenge – July
Wine Trail – August
Wedding Walk – September
Chili Cookoff – October
Trick or Treat – October
Wine Trail – November
And of course, the HDBA put on lots of great Special Events throughout the year:
12 Elves Of Dublin
Find all 12 elves hidden throughout Historic Dublin and win a little prize at each participating location. Over 700 kids joined the search in 2017!
A celebration to kick-off the holiday season in Historic Dublin with free family-friendly fun including a Gingerbread house contest and much more.
Adult Holiday Hunt
Celebrate the holiday season in Historic Dublin with a fun scavenger hunt for Santa Hats! This FREE event is a twist on the popular 12 Elves of Dublin – but for the grown ups!
Fairy Door Hunt (in collaboration with DVCB)
A year-long event to find hidden fairies throughout Historic Dublin
A rainy day didn’t stop this event! The Historic Dublin Street Bazaar is an open air market celebrating local artists, crafters, and food trucks along High Street in Historic Dublin.
Behind the scenes, the HDBA Board of Directors was busy setting the stage for constantly improving and increasing awareness of the Historic District. We’ve established a close relationship with City of Dublin leadership, helping keep them focused on the importance of Dublin’s historic core. We’ve partnered with the Dublin Convention and Visitor’s Bureau to create the Downtown Dublin Strategic Alliance, which works to promote businesses throughout the entire downtown area.
And the HDBA Board worked with the City of Dublin on the upcoming Historic District Beautification Program, which will provide grant money to businesses for certain improvements to their properties (more about this later this year!).
Thanks to the citizens of Dublin and the hard work of the HDBA members businesses, 2017 was our best year ever, and we can’t wait to show you what we have in store for 2018!
